| The mission of Sammy’s Spirit is to ensure greater safety for children. Too many children die or are injured because of lack of adoption of up-to-date safety measures and laws and regulations that fail to protect our children. Sammy Shpigler – the spirit behind the organization – died from a fall from a hotel balcony after slipping through railings that were not in compliance with the most recent regulations put in place for maximum 4” spacing between railings. Instead, the hotel was “grandfathered” into being allowed to use an older 5” spacing standard. The goal of Sammy’s Spirit is to ensure that other children are protected from unsafe practices like this. |
